Project Overview

The goal of this project is the research and development of a system that will efficiently collect, convert, and store low voltage energy. Our project is a general use project, but our client presented use with the challenge of supporting power needs of remote data transmission. For instance our system would take in an input from energy harvesting device and store traces amounts of energy to power the sensors and microcontroller that enable it to wirelessly communicate. The main objectives and constraints for our project include:

  • Converting 1.1V AC Peak to Peak Voltage to 3V DC.
  • Detemine the lowest voltage input that can reliably be scrapped from the input source
  • The power source we use will be the only power source in the design.
  • Determining for every hour of energy scrapping, how many minutes will we be able to drive a 20mA LED
  • Use a source or method that can be adjusted from 1.5 volts P-P to 0.2 volts P-P
